Fire Danger in PNF Now High

While Yavapai County is in good shape when it comes to drought conditions, recent warmer weather and a lack of rain have resulted in an increased fire danger. Officials with the Prescott National Forest have raised the current fire danger to high. Last week, the fire danger was low. Everyone is reminded to always exercise caution with anything that can produce a flame or a spark to avoid starting a wildfire.

Make sure campfires are fully extinguished and ashes are cool to the touch before you leave; properly dispose of your cigarettes; when driving, make sure chains are not dragging from your vehicle as they can throw out sparks. Also, do not park your car on grass as the heat from beneath your vehicle could ignite the vegetation.
