Prescott Area State Rep Nguyen Wants Investigation into Phoenix Anti-ICE Policy

Arizona House Judiciary Committee Chairman Quang Nguyen is calling on Attorney General Kris Mayes to investigate a City of Phoenix policy he says may violate state law.

The policy, known as Administrative Regulation 5.32, limits the use of city-owned property for federal immigration enforcement personnel without approval from the city manager.

Nguyen, who represents the Prescott area, argues the rule conflicts with Arizona law, which prohibits local governments from restricting federal immigration enforcement.

Phoenix City Council adopted the measure as part of its community transparency initiative. Critics say the policy could delay or obstruct federal operations by requiring local approval for access to public property.

Nguyen has requested a written report from the attorney general within 30 days. If a violation is found, the issue could be referred to the Arizona Supreme Court.
