Local scoreboard from yesterday, at the Boulder Creek track and field meet, Chino Valley’s Travis Minkus placed first in the boys shot put and discus, and Matt Sibole was first in the javelin. For the girls, Ansley Owen won the 1,600 meter run, Addison Afman was first in the 300 meter hurdles, and Jayden Vander Molen won the high jump.
A former Yavapai College basketball player has a new coaching gig. Chelsea Banbury – formerly Dermyer – is the new head coach for the Virginia Commonwealth women’s basketball team. She had been the bench boss for High Point University for the past seven years, going 140–79 and winning the Big South Conference Tournament three times.
