YC Baseball Knocks off Scottsdale

The Scottsdale College baseball team jumped on Yavapai College early, taking a 3-0 lead after two innings of play. Then the Artichokes’ bats went silent. The Roughriders’ bats were also silent until the later innings. The game culminated in a seven-run outburst by Yavapai in the seventh inning, resulting in a 12-4 run-rule victory over Scottsdale Tuesday.

Carter Brown homered and drove in five runs for YC. Parker Halverson had a home run and two RBIs. Dong-Jae Ko had two RBIs. Bradshaw Mountain product Garison Jones went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Owen Fernandes was the winning pitcher.

The win improves Yavapai’s record to 17-15 on the season. The Roughriders are home again this Friday for a single game against Central Arizona College. Then on Saturday, both sides will play a doubleheader.
