Things did not go the way of the Bradshaw Mountain girls tennis team in doubles Thursday as they dropped two of their three matches to Mingus. Mandy Mena and Paige Holliday got the win for the Lady Bears in doubles 8-2.
Singles turned into a dogfight between Bradshaw Mountain and Mingus. Angelina Hoey dropped her first set 6-3 at number one singles before coming back to win the final two sets 6-3 and 10-8. Mena also had a battle at number six singles, which she pulled out 7-6 and 6-4. Clara DeBord lost her number two singles match in a third set tiebreaker, but Rylei Haese won 7-5 and 6-2 at number three singles, and Holliday got the deke at number five singles 6-1 and 7-5, giving Bradshaw Mountain the 5-4 team win.
The Lady Bears are now 8-5 on the season and have won four of their last five matches. They wrap the regular season at Cactus Shadows next Tuesday.
