After reporting on the recent successes of our local high school track and field athletes, let’s take a look at what some former local products are doing in the college ranks for that sport.
Prescott alum – and multi-time state champ – Violet Williams represented the Colorado School of Mines at the recent RMAC Championship Meet. She was the conference runner-up in the long jump. At the Azusa Pacific Last Chance Meet earlier this month, Williams ran a 12.09 in the 100-meter dash, the ninth-best time in program history.
Another ex-Badger, Jack Mason, was one of the standout performers for Wagner College at the NEC Championship Meet. He was the conference champion in both the men’s long jump and men’s triple jump. Along with helping Wagner win the NEC title, his two medals got him named the conference’s Most Outstanding Field Performer among the jumpers.
