Fuels Reduction Operation Starts Next Week Near Prescott

Work is set to begin next week on a major fuels reduction project south of Prescott with the goal of lowering the risk of a catastrophic wildfire. Crews from the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management will treat approximately 1,100 acres over the next several months using a combination of heavy machinery and hand crews to remove hazardous vegetation and excess fuels.

While work is underway, the Badger and Turley trails will remain open to the public. However, visitors are urged to use caution in the area and watch for work crews and equipment.

The project is part of ongoing efforts to reduce the wildfire danger across the region as northern Arizona enters its peak fire season.
